Christmas celebration in France has different traditions in each region.
Besides December 25 in eastern and northern France, the Christmas season begins
on December 6 with the fête de Saint Nicolas, and in some provinces the fête
des Rois or Epiphany on January 6th is the date most celebrated station .. In
Lyon is celebrated on December 8 Fête de Lumières in which citizens pay homage
to the Virgin Mary placing candles in the windows of every house to illuminate
the city. Tradition has it that left the candles to illuminate the passage of
Mary in her pilgrimage. In big cities like Paris, all public buildings are
specially illuminated ..
