This week we've had just one session with lots of things to do. By the end of the class you were really tired and even a bit bored... I'm sure. But this first term is coming to its end and now it's time to relax a bit, because the second will be harder.

Here you have a video we can comment on next class, it's quite interesting and it illustrates different traditions in different countries that can help us to have an interesting speaking next day, ok? Here you have:

Next Monday we will continue talking about Christmas and probably we could watch another video which shows the origin of some traditions.

That's all by the moment. I hope you take some minutes to have a look to the video.

Christmas in different cities of France

The Christmas celebration in France has different traditions in each region. Besides December 25 in eastern and northern France, the Christmas season begins on December 6 with the fête de Saint Nicolas, and in some provinces the fête des Rois or Epiphany on January 6th is the date most celebrated station .. In Lyon is celebrated on December 8 Fête de Lumières in which citizens pay homage to the Virgin Mary placing candles in the windows of every house to illuminate the city. Tradition has it that left the candles to illuminate the passage of Mary in her pilgrimage. In big cities like Paris, all public buildings are specially illuminated ..

Christmas Traditions in France

Regarding Christmas traditions and childhood, children leave their shoes by the fireplace to Père Noël (Santa) fill you with gifts, small gifts and candy Christmas tree hung overnight as candy, fruit and nuts .. There is a very loving law in the country, enacted in 1962, indicating that all letters written to Santa Claus for children to be answered with a postcard, which are individually .. Another important Christmas tradition in France for many families is called Midnight Mass Messe de Minuit, which is followed by a great feast called Le Reveillon, symbolizing the symbolic awakening of Jesus at his birth. Families celebrate at home or in restaurants with great food, some being traditional dishes with chicken, goose, turkey stuffed with nuts, oysters, and boudin blanc ..

Monday 1st Wednesday 3rd December

Hi girls! How's it going? Ready to relax this great weekend I guess. Me too.

First of all thanx for your contribution to our blog; I know this can be tiring but I'm glad to trust you.

These days we revised a bit more adverbs of frequency and practised how we use them with listening, speaking and reading activities. We also workedwith all uses of the present simple since sometimes you still forget to add the 3rd person -s or things like that. As I told you, it would be nice if you revise all these things in order to solve all kind of doubts and go on to the next topic. Since we have an extra day it could be a good idea, don't you think?

Again I want to say thanx for your interest in the project. I'm very happy with your work. Let's see if this little problems with the blog can be solved as soon as possible.

I really hope you enjoy this long weekend!

Be good, have fun, see you in class!

Bye

Hello girls, how are you? Thinking about Thanksgiving? I hope you enjoyed this History Lesson, you told me you didn't know about that so we watched this video, read about the first Thanksgiving and had a chat on the topic. You became a bit impressed when knowing about the Native...  well, let's not speak about it more.

These days we had done a very good job when talking about your free time activities. Your homework was really really good (congratulations!) And we started revising adverbs of frequency. You have a couple of activities related to this, so if you have any problem we will see next week in detail and we can do some more exercises, ok?

And also we have clear ideas about our Christmas project. I think is like this:

RAQUEL : FRANCE
BEGOÑA: AUSTRIA
Mª JESUS: CHILE
Mª PAZ : USA

I'm sure you will have fun when investigating other traditions and figuring out how to prepare a delicious dessert; I trust you and I know you'll do your best. And as we said in class last day, you cn use the blog to post some comments, or upload photos or songs or things like that; it's easy to share all the information and very useful, please... try, ok?

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Bye!!

Monday 17th Wednesday 19th November

Hi ladies! How are you? Enjoying your free time? Well, that's what I hope, this way you'll be ready to talk next day about it, do you remember? It's your homework, to prepare and rehearse a bit this short monologue about the things you like doing in your free time, not only hobbies but also activities you can do (you can afford, you have the chance and so on...) Just in case you have any doubt here you have the mindmap we created in class:

MY FREE TIME ACTIVITIES:

1- THINGS I LIKE DOING  (here you say why you like those things and give your personal opinion)
2- THINGS I DO IN MY FREE TIME (here you explain how often, where, who with)
3- THINGS I'D LIKE TO DO (here you talk about the things you'd do if having the chance, whatever the kind)

Remember to use voc learnt in class (reading, eating out, working out at the gym, listening to music, dancing, taking photos...) adverbs of frequency and time expressions:

I hope this refresh your mind!. I'm sure you'll do your best.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Monday10th Wednesday 12th November

Hello girls, how are you? hope everything's right after these days... some of you had an "extra" day in your weekend, happy for you!

Well, this week we have had very good sessions, full of listening and speaking activities. You have done a very good job with THERE IS and THERE ARE when describing houses and furniture, Both your homework and your class activities have been really good.

We have learnt a lot of furniture voc and he have revised prepositions of place. For homework you will finish the writing in the worksheet I gave you.You will describe your neighbourhood saying the things you have. You  will use there is/isn't , there are/aren't and voc related to shops.

To finish the last class we played "Say 4 things game" and we had lots of fun. I really enjoyed that part because it was a long time since we played a game for the last time... I guess that you felt like to, right?

Ok, that's all for today.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Monday 3rd Wednesday 5th November

Hi ladies! Here we are again waiting for the weekend to have a little rest... right? Well, let's see if we have all the time we need to do all the things we would like to. We'll see next day.

This week we have introduced "The House" as a topic. Last week we mentioned things related to this just because of Halloween, haunted houses and so on; but it's now the topic. So we have been working with voc and the structure THERE IS/THERE ARE in all forms (positive, negative, interrogative) We have spoken a lot about our houses, we have listened to lots of activities and in general you have done a very good job. You're improving week after week and that's always great!

We will continue working with this structure when describing your house. Remember that for homework I asked you to draw the plan of your house and then explain with some detail to the class... I know it could be a bit difficult so here you have an example:

I'm sure you'll try your best. You describe your house using there is a balcony, but there isn't a garden; there are two bathrooms... etc

Be good, have fun, see you in class!

Bye!

Monday 27th Wednesday 29th October

Hi ladies, how are you? I hope really fine planning this weekend. As we talked last class this "celebration" is becoming so popular that everybody's thinking of the costume. What about you? You will tell me next day.

These days we have been revising the time with some written and listening activities. I hope it's clear, if not, you have to revise and write down all the doubts you can find in order to solve all of them. Then we practised vocabulary and expressions related to money, we covered some activities as well. Then we moved into voc related to house. With these words we revised prepositions, too.  You keep forgetting some of them but you're improving a lot.

On Wednesday we checked all the activities and practised an interesting speaking about Halloween. I liked your ideas and you expressed them quite well. Then we completed some reading and listening activities in order to go on with the topic.

To finish (and to relax a bit) we worked with a wordseach and a crossword on the same topic. The wordsearch was very easy but the crossword... I hope you can finish at home because I know it's a bit difficult. Difficult but really challenging, so, although it's not homework I hope you try and complete. And have a good time, of course.

For homework I asked you to write about a horror film you like (or you know... since this kind of movies is not popular among you...) including some interesting facts as the director, main actors, the setting... and a short summary. You'll do your best, I trust.

Be good (and a bit naughty, it's Halloween) have fun, see you in class!

Bye!

Monday, 20th, Wednesday, 22nd, October

Hello girls, how are you? Are you working? Are you resting?. Well you will tell me about your weekend next Monday, ok?

These days we have been working with lots of vocabulary. Please, relax, you don't have to study by heart. On Monday we continued with HAVE vs HAVE GOT and I really think that now it's clear enough for you, right? We practised with activities and speaking using Have with expressions like "have a shower" and Have got with things like "I have got a mobile phone"

We also revised prepositions of place that you seemed to have forgotten. We practised a bit more and we will continue from time to time again. You did better, so, very good!

On Wednesday we started talking about  The Time. Ways to ask for and say the time. I know it seems a bit difficult but it isn't, believe me. You did very well all the listening activities related to this topic. To make things easier for HW you will write a summary about the things you do saying the time (As we saw in class: I get up at half past seven; then I have breakfast at quarter to eight...) This way we practise the time, prepositions, adverbs of frequency and time expressions and the use of have.

So... be good, have fun, see you in class!

Monday 13th, Wednesday 15th, October

Hello girls! How are you? I'm fine, I hope you too now the weekend is so so near!

These days we finished talking about our things or personal possessions. We introduced the verb HAVE GOT and we distinguished it from HAVE. I admit that it can be a bit confusing at the beginning. We focused on the auxiliary verb that goes with each of them and it's a bit hard to understand. Anyway, if after the weekend still you have some doubts we will review next week, ok?

To go on practising with HAVE GOT we started working with a new topic: The family. We worked with voc (tons for you, I know) that we have to know and completed some activities related to the relationships among family members.

We practised more possessive 's with some speaking and that's what you will practise with your HW. For next week you will create your family tree more or less as the one that appears on your notes, adding some important detailsin order to prove that you know how to use the possessive 's and the voc learned these days, ok? It's easy and funny, so take a little time to organize your ideas and your work, ok?

Be good, have fun, see you in class!

Bye!

Wednesday 8th October

Hello girls! How are you? I hope you're fine still thinking of the last song activity... it was very interesting and we enjoyed a lot.

These days we were busy. First we were revising the use of "a/an" before jobs and then we had a look to "THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE" we practised with listening activities. Also we were working with personal objects (voc) and said the things you had with you. Finally  we were working with the language and voc related to the classroom with more listening and speaking activities.

On Wednesday we finished our handout about countries and nationalities but with a quiz, with cities, music... it was "different" Then we practised some role-play activities.

Then we revised the possessive 's, possessive adjectives and pronouns. We introduced some new adjectives to describe the things we have and are important for us. We were listening about two people's things and commented a bit. You will do something as on p.18 talking about your important things. You will write but it will be a speaking activity in class next week, ok? So... rehearse a little bit!!

To finish the class we worked with a song (Eternal Flame) filling the gaps choosing the best option. I'm sorry you don't like this song anymore... now that you understand the lyrics... I was joking. We had a good time!

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Monday 29th September, Wednesday 1st October

Hi ladies, pleased to write here again! How are you? I hope fine and enjoying this autumn, the weather is still hot so you can go for a walk everyday!! You have to take some time to revise what we are doing, these days you are doing a very good job and, as you know, step by step you'll enjoy everything we do.

On Monday we were revising the numbers through a lot of listening activities, we were filling forms with personal information as well, so now you can do these things wherever you go ;)  We had a look to some pronouns and adjectives and it seems you got the idea.

On Wednesday we continued with more listening activities related to numbers and personal details. You practised speaking activities asking for and giving this information and we revised the "possessive 's" Then we were playing something like "Who am I" and it was great!! We had lots of fun a laughed a lot!!

Remember girls, you have homework. I gave you a handout with some activities to revise the possessive 's and the use of a/an before jobs. I'm sure you'll do your best.

Be good, have fun, see you in class!!

Monday 22nd, Wednesday 24th

Hello girls!! Here we are again after a long, long summer holiday. I hope you have enjoyed this time but now we must be ready to work.

In our first class we talked about our summer holidays and we revised pronunciation. As I told you we're going to focus more on pronunciation this course since you learned some basic points last course, so I hope you enjoy with this. Also we revised phonetics while talking about countries and nationalities. You made a good job.

On Wednesday we were using the short forms of the verb TO BE and practised WH-words while listening. A new student joined us that morning. At the end of the class we revised jobs and then we played the "Guess my Job" game. It was funny.

Remember ladies, you have homework. I asked you to write a couple of paragraphs describing a job. The one you like, the one you know, the one of yours....whatever. So do it carefully!

Be good, have fun, see you in class!
